Here's a few work-in-progress images from Jan-Feb of this year. I was planning a personal animation project during 2020 (with a release in October) but - like many other things - it was postponed indefinitely due to the worldwide COVID-19 situation. No worries, life is more important than 3D. Yes, it is. Anyway, I borrowed assets (by Henri Juntunen, thanks, and they were free at the time), altered them, built these scenes; all to teach myself Blender and to evaluate it (and EEVEE, Cycles and BlenderOctaneEdition) for this project. Note: The gas canister is one of my many assets which I created in Blender for this project and the contents of these tests have very little to do with the actual film (even though it is in the science fiction genre). So these were created after about two weeks of doodling around in Blender after work. I was looking at render quality, speeds, optimizations etc. to figure out which Blender renderer (yes, I tested AMD ProRender too) would fit my project and hardware. For quality I'd take Octane any day (which I have since it was released), but I really like the look and speed of EEVEE. It's definitely growing on me... What do you think?
